4K Streaming at Home: Network and Device Basics

4K streaming needs more than a 4K television. The service, app, device, connection, and home network must all support the format.
Verify the whole chain
Confirm that your plan includes 4K, the title is offered in 4K, and your playback device supports the required format. A 4K TV alone does not upgrade standard-definition or HD video.
Improve network consistency
Place the router in an open, central location, reduce interference where possible, and avoid crowding the network during a movie. Ethernet is a useful option for fixed devices.
Use sensible expectations
Resolution may adjust automatically when bandwidth changes. Let the app stabilize for a moment before diagnosing a problem, then test another licensed service to isolate the cause.
